This is a wonderful even tempered breed but they require the right owner. They are loyal and calm with their family. Like any breed they require a good leader to teach them manners towards small children or they could hurt them due to their large size. It's up to you as the owner to always supervise play between both the child and the dog.  

This breed is a very aloof breed, they were bred to protect their family and livestock, so proper socialization and training is very important.
