Dogwood Cane Corso
About Us PrintE-mail

Michael and I took great consideration before starting our own breeding program with the Cane Corso. We wanted to make sure that this was the breed for us. I have been involved with dogs my entire life through different job experiences as well as family pets. I personally have always dreamed of owning a dog that could protect me but was trainable and I could be proud to accompany me around my home as well as my everyday activities. Michael, who has always lived a very active lifestyle, including mountain biking, hiking and snow boarding desired a dog that could keep up with him. We researched the breed by attending dog shows, speaking with other breeders, reading journals and the internet. We needed to see if the Cane Corso was the right breed to fit our lives. We wanted a loyal submissive family dog that could also be a dominant protector when commanded too. The Cane Corso fits that mold perfectly. In the short time I've been around the Corso, the one thing I can say that's true about all of them is they are so loyal to their family and love to share in affection with people they love!

The Cane Corso is a very devoted and intellegent breed that learn quickly and strive to please you. Whether you decide to do basic obedience or Schutzhund, it is a very rewarding feeling when you are in public and everyone compliments you and your well behaved gentle giant. When we walk in public and have a pack of calm submissive Cane Corso’s walking beside us it’s so rewarding to get compliments and looks of admiration! The Cane Corso is the most rewarding dog we have ever owned.

As soon as the puppies are born we touch them everyday and practice an exercise called Bio Sensor to help further strengthen them as adults. We expose our puppies to all kinds of noises, textures, people of all ages and all kinds of fun places before they come home to their new family. We want to make sure that your puppy has every opportunity to learn very valuable lessons about the world around him during the most vulnerable time in his/her life. Our Cane Corso's are encouraged to venture out on their own and show their independence. For some puppies this happens soon after they're born! Last year I had a frightening experience with a man who was approaching my car to come and hurt me because my windows were down and he thought I was alone while eating my lunch. Pike saw him and jumped up and began barking at him and the man ran away. I have never been so appreciative to any animal in my life, he showed no fear to the man and immediately returned to his bed and kept watching me! It was then and there I knew I had made the right choice in choosing the Cane Corso. Now I want to share my passion of this breed by picking only the best Italian bloodlines with the best temperaments for working and being a member of your family, but also the best in health and confirmation to present people with top quality Corso's!
